Jim Cotrel's PledgePage

Last year I raised $2,605 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and competed in the Ford New York City Triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's TEAM IN TRAINING. This year, I’ve decided to increase the mileage and do one more race with Team In Training.

On May 22, 2005 I will be competing in the Florida Half Ironman Triathlon at Walt Disney World Resort. The Half Ironman distance is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run.

Thirty years ago, there was no effective treatment for leukemia. Thanks to research funded in part by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the survival rate for the most common form of childhood leukemia has improved from 4% in 1960 to 85% in 1999. Over 106,000 people in the United States will be diagnosed with a blood cancer in 2005-an estimated 58,300 will die. Although the cause of these cancers remains unknown, steady advances in research and treatment are bringing us closer to cures.

Along with the increase in mileage, I would like to increase my fundraising goal and raise more than $4,300 for the Society. The funds will be used for research, patient aid and education. Please return your contribution, along with the donation form, as soon as possible. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

Please donate what you can. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
